Amazing Arizona Comics
My name is Russ Kazmierczak, Jr., and I live in Phoenix. I self-publish the minicomic Amazing Arizona Comics. I love comics, I love making comics, and I love sharing the comics I've made! Since so many of my stories take place in Arizona, I think PZF attendees will enjoy them.
Signal Fire is an organization that connects artists and creative agitators to threatened wildlands. We lead backcountry trips and produce programming that elevates issues of land justice and the protection of our air, land, and water. Signal Fire publishes an annual zine, Leaf Litter, that highlights the growing artist community that we serve. Leaf Litter is in its seventh issue. In addition, we have a small distro of alumni zine projects.
Signal Fire has been organizing backcountry trips for artists and creative agitators in the US Southwest for eight years and we're excited to connect with the PHX Zine Fest community! Our zines support artists and writers who create work in response to issues of land justice, Indigenous survivance, wildlands protection, and an equitable future in the face of climate change.

My name is Krista Esse and I am a graphic designer and illustrator living in Arizona. I'm originally from California but have fallen in love with the Arizona landscapes. I have several zines, such as "selfies are a good thing u idiot," "a little book of people i love a lot," and "this book doesn't matter, but luckily neither does anything else," and "just mugs." I also have been working on a new zine about my cat and leopard gecko, who are best friends.
I love the zines I make because they are a beautiful way to show a lot of art in a cheap, efficient, and cool way. Illustration and Publication design are two things I'm passionate about, which is why zines are a great medium for me. I'm looking forward to PHX Zine Fest 2018 whether I get to table, or simply attend, because I think it's so important to create a network of artists around you that can inspire, challenge, and uplift you.
