OasisWho are you? Where do you come from? What zine do you make? We are a group of anticapitalists from Phoenix, Arizona. Our zine, Oasis, reimagines our home as a reprieve from the oppressive conditions capitalism creates. We believe that abundance and cooperation can not only persist, but thrive in the desert. What would you like people to know about the zines you create and/or why you would look forward to tabling at Phx Zine Fest 2017? We are so often inundated with narratives of nuclear fallout, alien invasions, and worlds of depleted resources and scarcity. Why can we sooner imagine an apocalyptic end to the world than an end to capitalism? This issue focuses on imagining what an anticapitalist alternative could look like. Zines are a radical form of creative expression; their tangibility and community-based nature stand in stark contrast to the impersonal way we consume information online. For this reason, we believe zines are a perfect medium for exploring radical politics. Lost Projects ZineWho are you? Where do you come from? What zine do you make? The names AmyLou Bogen, I’m an artist, writer, and student about the valley of the sun, a Midwesterner turned Phoenician some 10+ years now. I am editor of Lost Projects, a zine dedicated to lost things and the art of staying found. A lifelong "late-bloomer + slow poke" I am currently up to my ears in lost projects of both my own and of others. Lost Projects Zine is a community safe space to share abandoned, failed and flawed+ projects of yesteryear. "Tell us your woes, n' let 'em go." What would you like people to know about the zines you create and/or why you would look forward to tabling at Phx Zine Fest 2017? Zines and I have had an on again off again relationship since we fell in love at first sight back in thee 1990's. Last year I tabled at the PHX Zinefest and I am back for more! My 4th issue of LP will be debuting at the fest! What I love about zinefests’ is you get to meet the craftivist community face to face. The vibe is at once inclusive and expansive and I am constantly wowed at the power of the zine to connect, dazzle, and challenge. Budget PressWho are you? Where do you come from? I do whatever I feel like doing. What would you like people to know about the zines you create and/or why you would look forward to tabling at Phx Zine Fest 2017? I was inspired by the cool photo zines at last year's PHX Zinefest to make some of those from my travels, and that's the new stuff I'll be bringing. I look forward to seeing what Phoenix has been up to in the last year. Epoch ArtWho are you? Where do you come from? What zine do you make?
My name is Jaime valderrama and I'm an illustrator and screen printer from Los Angeles. My body of work is primarily science fiction based, with a touch of surrealism. I have published an indie book which contains 5 short stories and optical illusions. I also have multiple zines and print editions. What would you like people to know about the zines you create and/or why you would look forward to tabling at Phx Zine Fest 2017? My work focuses on exploring the outer boundaries of the imagination. Anything is possible in the genre of science fiction. I try to provoke deep thought, astonishment, fear, sadness, inspiration, hope and tragedy through my work. Taking part in festivals gives me the chance to meet other unique minds. I love meeting new artists that share my passion and provoke inspiration.
