2018 Vendors: Breena Nuñez, PSYCHWRITER FICTIONAL CONSTRUCTS AND VARIED WHIMSICAL JAPERIES, Swamp Crotch, EPOCH
My name is Breena Nuñez and I was born and raised in the Bay Area of California. The zines that I create are an assortment of comics and per zines that speak about my experience with being a Central American person.
My zines and comics are an effort to create agency for folks who identify as Afrolatinx and Central American. We are living in a beautiful time where more creative people from the Central American isthmus taking ownership of our personal histories and publishing stories on our own terms.
PsychWriter Fictional Constructs and Varied Whimsical Japeries
I am Alex Pearl, and I am perpetually tired. I was found as a toddler wandering the lush forests of Phoenix, Arizona, when I was found by a kind elderly couple. I told the doctors the story of my exile from my homeland in the realm beyond the sky, where wine flows like honey and the women are respected for their contributions to science and politics. They called bullshit, threw me back into the forest, and now I'm here. I don't normally make zines, but I find that making them is pretty darn fun. I've gotten into flash fiction recently, and those have been just ideal for the zine scene. Normally, I write science fiction and horror, but comedy tends to creep into both. It is a side effect of my malnourished years living off forest vegetation and bear meat.
I haven't had too many opportunities to push the envelope from strict fiction into zinework (yet), but the stuff I've got - I would dare to say - is pretty unique! So, you know, give it a shot! It's good eatin'. I want to try tabling at PHX Zine Fest 2018 because, frankly, I don't know too many people in the Phoenix artistic community and I would love to know more. I want to get my writing out there, experience other peoples' art, and rock the block like doc ock, if you know what I mean. I do not know what I mean.
Me and my friend made Swamp Crotch because we're not cool enough to be in a band. We did this in Tucson, but Dayna's from Phoenix.
I like meeting other artists and I've confined my activity to Tucson so far!
My name is jaime valderrama and I'm an illustrator/screen printer born and raised in Los Angeles. My work is predominantly science fiction based with a touch of surrealism. Much of my inspiration is derived from vintage science fiction, life experiences and family. My books include geometric shapes, short illustrated sci-fi stories, holographic art and impossible objects.
I try to create work that is beyond imagination. I have spent countless hours illustrating late into the night(drinking lots of coffee) and creating my visions. I hope I can share my work with others that share my passion at your awesome fest.
