2018 VENDORS: DUMPSTER POETS, F is For Fuck Trump, Black Box Creative, Bad Judgement Good Art (Ari Saperstein)
Meghan Kelsey and Susan Nguyen met while attending ASU's MFA program for creative writing where they both sought ways to stray from the canon and to carve out a place for their bodies through the power of language.
Our zines create radical spaces for our bodies, our voices, our fracturing of narratives and expectations. We look forward to sharing our poetry and artwork with the PHX community!
F is For Fuck Trump
I'm Haley, I'm from AZ and I'll die in AZ. I make F is for Fuck Trump and a My Favorite Murder Fan Zine.
I make interactive zines so far and I'm looking forward to table because I've been in the zine scene for a while now but feel like I should put myself out there a bit more.
Black Box Creative
Belem Martinez and Alex Southway, creators of Black Box Creative. Belem Martinez graduated from ASU, I do mainly artist collage books/zines and photography. Alex Southway is an artist from Flagstaff working on her own zines, "Lines are Fine" and "Puff-A-Nugg."
We create our zines mainly for our own release of the demons in our minds and our creative enjoyment. We hope to table this year to share our works and meet other creatives.
Hi! My name is Ari, I'm 25 and I'm an illustrator. I make humorous illustrated zines that tell colorful (literally and figuratively) stories about life as a young adult. Interspersed with the stories are quippy or punny jokes, sometimes referencing pop culture or general observations. I'm a bubbly happy person and I love making people smile with my art!
Some of the zines I'll be bringing include: "Illustractions: Vol 1" is a collection of narrative art by 18 diverse, up-and-coming illustrators. "Greg In LA" is short comic about a young man making lots of bad decisions in his first few years of living in SoCal. "BadJudgementGoodArt: Young Professionals" is a collection of short comics about trials and tribulations in early career jobs.
I just tabled Pomona Zinefest and LOVED IT and want to keep doing many more this year! At LA Zinefest, I meet so many people from around the country and now I'm really interested in engaging with other arts communities outside California!
