YC: Hello! My name is Yolie and I am originally from Southern California. I've been living here in the desert for almost 10 years. I created Necropolis Zine and I can't wait to showcase it. Necropolis stemmed from my own personal relationships with death and cemeteries. I wanted to share that platform with others and so far I've had a great response. Issue #1 includes only my photos whereas issue #2 has over 15 contributors. I will have issue #1 and #2 with me at the fest.
BR: Hey there I am Billy Russell and I am originally from southern California. I currently reside in downtown Phoenix. This will be my first zine fest and I will be bringing several zines that I have created. Zine #1-“Continuance” a short science-fiction story about alien abduction, loss and a twist on what we know as ownership. The main character struggles with his new life far, far away from home. Zine #2 – “Isolation” is a psychological-cum-supernatural horror story about the effect of isolation on someone’s psyche. A bizarre series of events that, by themselves, are innocent enough, may lead to something more sinister.
What would you like people to know about the zines you create and/or why you are looking forward to tabling at Phx Zine Fest 2016?
YC: Death can be a difficult subject but I created my zine to show the inherent beauty in it. My zine also showcases works from people who share that same desire. I'm excited to table because Phoenix has been starved for an event like this and I am so excited that our city is finally getting it's own zine fest!
BR: This is my first time creating zines and I am very excited to showcase my work. I look forward to tabling and meeting my fellow zinesters.
